Oilstick & Acrylic on Canvas in Plexiglass Box
24 karat gilded screws
50 x 50 x 40cm. (19.7 x 19.7 x 15.7in.)
This cube painting elegantly masters closing the gap between historic and modern art. It depicts a classic pose of male and female interaction with a new quirky touch.
The cube painting series is Castello's successful attempt to overcome the ever-present separation of sculpture and painting. These pieces mark a milestone in the history of art through the methodology. The artist destroys his original paintings to create new masterpieces in form of veritable sculptures. Castello's cube paintings question the fixed perspectives of society, by representing the idea of containing the macrocosm of a whole world into the macrocosm of a limited space. The artworks are perfected in their design by utilising 24 karat gilded screws with which the plexiglass boxes are sealed.
